MASAR HD Concludes Pfizer-BioNTech ToT Training with UNICEF, WHO, and SIG.

In a remarkable collaboration, MASAR HD, in partnership with Syria Immunization Group (SIG) as the technical Partner, successfully concluded a transformative Training for Trainers (TOT) on Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Delivery. This crucial initiative, supported by UNICEF and with the active participation of the World Health Organization (WHO), aimed to elevate the skills and knowledge of trainers in pivotal aspects of vaccine management.

Three-day training, held in Gaziantep from January 15 to 17, 2024, focused on key objectives to enhance trainers’ proficiency in managing Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccinations. The primary areas of focus included vaccine administration, handling, storage, and adverse event monitoring.

Scope of Training:

  • Introduction to Pfizer-BioNTech Vaccines:
Participants gained insights into the composition and administration of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, fostering a deep understanding of its components.
  • Vaccine Management and Cold Chain Logistics:
The training emphasized effective management of Ultra-low temperature vaccine stock, ensuring the integrity of the cold chain logistics, with SIG playing a valuable technical role.
  • Vaccination Process and AEFI Monitoring:
Trainers were equipped with the tools to efficiently manage and monitor vaccine administration, with a keen focus on reporting adverse effects, guided by SIG’s technical expertise.
  • Recording, Monitoring, and Community Communication:
The importance of meticulous recording, monitoring, and effective communication with the community and stakeholders were underscored for a successful vaccine rollout, with SIG contributing invaluable technical support.

Expected Outcomes:

Upon completion of the training, participants were expected to:

  • Understand and Explain Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine:
Gain a comprehensive understanding of the vaccine’s components and administration, enabling effective communication with recipients.
  • Effectively Manage Ultra-Low Temperature Vaccine Stock:
Develop proficiency in handling and managing vaccines at ultra-low temperatures, crucial for maintaining the vaccine’s efficacy, with SIG’s technical guidance.
  • Manage and Monitor Vaccine Management:
Acquire the skills to manage and monitor the vaccine management process, with a heightened awareness of adverse effects and their reporting mechanisms, under SIG’s technical mentorship.
  • Engage with Community and Stakeholders:
Enhance community engagement strategies and collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring a smooth and successful vaccine rollout, with SIG providing indispensable technical insights.

Methodology:

The training employed a diverse range of teaching methods by SIG, including interactive lectures, practical demonstrations, case studies, role-playing exercises, and group discussions. These methods ensured a holistic and immersive learning experience for the trainers, fostering the development of practical skills essential for the effective delivery of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccinations.

In conclusion, MASAR HD’s collaboration with UNICEF, WHO, and the technical partnership with SIG in conducting this training exemplifies a concerted effort to strengthen global vaccination initiatives. By empowering trainers with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills, this initiative contributes significantly to the ongoing battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
